For more than 40 successful years, we have been on fire for one single topic, and that is good air! Thanks to our technical expertise and needs-based services on an equal footing, our customers can count on getting just the solution that they really need.
We prioritise the quality of our ventiation units, which we develop in house at our head office in Alling. We also manufacture our systems there, and are proud to offer our customers 100% made in Germany solutions.

Today we are an established player in the market. But we are proud not only of what we have achieved, but also of the journey that brought us here. From the very beginning, our history has been shaped by the values of ambition and family.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
From large ventilation systems to residential ventilation
The year is 1980. Anneliese and Knut Reznartz have been developing large ventilation units for the commercial and industrial sectors. In order to supply residential buildings with good air as well, the company also installs units from other manufacturers. But once installed, the units never quite meet the couple’s high standards. So Anneliese and Knut Reynartz decide to develop their own residential ventilation system. This marks the birth of Meltem.
TWO PASSIONS
Passionate about sailing – and good ventilation
To call Knut Reynartz a passionate sailor would be a huge understatement. Knut always dreamed of a life on the open sea, in harmony with the elements. But his heart was also on fire for ventilation units. So it should come as no surprise that he adopted as Meltem’s credo what he loved so much about sailing: advanced technology and teamwork.
The name Meltem was also inspired by sailing. Meltemi is a Greek word that describes the pleasant winds of the Aegean Sea, which sailors appreciated for their reliability. They are ideal for sailing – and a pleasant refreshment during the hot summer months.
FROM THE GROUND UP
Meltem – A family business
Anneliese Reynartz put family first. So she was delighted when her son (and current CEO) Armin Reynartz joined his parents’ company at an early age, and did more than his fair share. ‘I can’t remember how many ventilation motors I built back then. Thousands at least,’ Armin recalled in 2023. ‘But I have no trouble remembering the blisters on my hands!’
Armin Reynartz always had an affinity for technology and engines. He even left the family business for a while to take his master’s examination as a master car mechanic in a workshop. Despite his burning passion for cars, he returned to the family business, where he worked for many years in unit production and IT until his father finally promoted him to management in 1987.
FATHER–DAUGHTER TEAM
Three generations later
In 2021, Vanessa Reynartz joined the family business as the third generation. She joined her father in management, bringing her experience as a real estate agent and business graduate. While many companies are fraught with generational conflicts, the Meltem father–daughter team is an example of perfect symbiosis. ‘I am glad to be able to draw on my father’s experience at any time. At the same time, I bring new approaches that open up entirely novel perspectives and paths forward. Of course, we have the odd discussion now and then. But always on an equal footing. They also lead to solutions that we might not have thought of otherwise,’ says Vanessa Reynartz, giving an insight into the teamwork between father and daughter.
Together with all their employees, they have decided to give the company a more future-looking orientation and to strengthen its position in the market. But always as a family business.
